Note 1: South Sydney Rabbitohs won the premiership by forfeit. It is believed that Balmain and Souths had agreed to boycott the match after it was scheduled as a curtain-raiser to the Wallabies v Kangaroos. This claim is often denied by Souths. On the day, Souths kicked off into an empty field, scored a try and were awarded the premiership.[1]

Note 2: Canterbury Bulldogs finished last after they were deducted 37 premiership points for salary cap breaches.

Note 3: On April 22, 2010 Melbourne Storm were stripped of their 2007 and 2009 premiership titles and their 2006, 2007 and 2008 minor premierships, due to long-term salary cap breaches. The premierships were not awarded to any other team.

Note 4: Melbourne Storm finished last after they were deducted all 8 premiership points received and barred from receiving any further premiership points for the rest of the season, due to long-term salary cap breaches. The points were not awarded to any other team.
